양떼, 늑대 무리, 그리고 기민(棄民) ─ 포스트 ‘3.11’의 사회 풍경에 대한 소묘 ─
이 논문은 포스트 3.11의 사회 풍경을 전후 민주주의와 시민 형상의 변화를 중심 으로 스케치하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 미증유의 파국적 경험인 3.11을 결정적 국면 으로 삼지 못하는 현 상황을 진단하기 위해서이다. 우선 포스트 3.11 시공간의 최대 시민 봉기인 신안보법제 반대 데모를 전후 민주주의의 보편주의와 이상주의의 수호 라는 측면에서 비판적으로 검토한다. 이를 통해 신안보법제가 적극적 평화주의란 개 념 아래 전후 민주주의의 이상을 계승한다는 사실, 비판자들은 이러한 주장이 역사 적으로 어떤 의미를 지니는지 전혀 인지하지 못했다는 사실, 그리고 그런 탓에 전후 민주주의의 이상주의와 보편주의가 끔찍한 폭력 위에서 성립 가능했음에 무지했음 을 비판한다. 그 뒤 마루야마 마사오의 민주주의론을 대조점으로 삼아 신안보법제 비판의 한계를 추출한다. 다음으로 마루야마의 민주주의론을 타자적 연대론으로 전 유한 가라타니 고진의 논의를 바탕으로 야쿠자라는 극한의 형상을 범례로 삼아 근 대 일본의 개별사회에 주목한다. 개별사회란 전체사회와 달리 내부 규범과 배타적 결속력을 가진 집단으로서, 시민의 테두리 바깥이나 그 경계선에 자리한 타자들로 구성된다. 메이지 유신 이래의 근대화 속에서 개별사회는 국가 법질서의 경계를 넘 나들며 사회적 타자들의 이익을 도모하는 사회집단으로 기능해왔다. 이런 논의를 전 제로 하여 포스트 3.11의 사회 풍경에서 시민들의 안전과 위생이라는 미명 아래 이 러한 개별사회가 철저히 말살되었는지를 소묘한다. 결론에서는 개별사회의 말살이 포스트 3.11의 사회 풍경 속에서 어떤 함의를 갖는지 성찰한다.

Citizen, Yakuza, and the Postwar Democracy : A Description of Social Landscape Post 3.11
The purpose of this paper is to sketch the social landscape Post 3.11, focusing on the present situation of post-war democracy. Specifically, this study aimed to diagnose the current situation in which 3.11, an unprecedented catastrophic experience, cannot be taken as a critical juncture. First, the demonstration against the New Security Law, the largest civil uprising in post 3.11, was critically reviewed in terms of protection of postwar democracy and idealism. Then, using Masao Maruyama's theory of democracy as comparison, the limitations of the new security legislation were extracted. Next, based on the discussion of Kojin Karatani, who inherited Maruyama's theory of democracy as another theory of solidarity, I focused on the middle social group of modern Japan whose extreme model was Yakuza organization. Unlike the society under regulation of legal order, the middle social group has exclusive bond with internal norms and consists of others outside the boundaries of citizens or on its boundaries. Furthermore, it was explained that how this middle social group was thoroughly wiped out under the guise of citizens' safety and hygiene in the social landscape Post 3.11.
