This paper examines the following phrases from the perspective of the “boundary between transitive and causative sentences.” More specifically, Section 3 presents an investigation of the criteria that are necessary and the difference in meaning when attributive and emotional adjectives are expressed with the phrases 「-ku-suru」 and 「-ku-saseru」. Section 4 discusses the characteristics of causative sentences derived from 「Verb+-(sa)se-tekureru」. Finally, Section 5 describes the pragmatic conditions that distinguish「Intransitive Verb+te-shimau」 and 「Transitive Verb+te-shimau」in detail. Generally speaking, the typical causative construction mostly has the following meanings 「compulsion(強制)」 「directions(指示)」 「neglect(放任)」 「permission(許容)」 「causative(使役)」. However, a syntactic construct exists that is different from typical causative syntax, and there is no indication that「saseru」necessarily indicates only the causative expression, sometimes representing an exceptional phenomenon. Furthermore, among the transitive verbs there are those with a higher transitivity and those without. The meanings of the transitive verbs are not all the same, and they vary depending on whether the relationship is a subject-related or grammatical relationship.
